BrandsEye Updates July
by Naaz Parkar on 2010/08/09
If you have been keeping a close eye on your BrandsEye account, you would have noticed that there have been some changes to the number of mentions you receive. No, you are not going crazy and aliens are not invading earth, we have made some changes to the search algorithm – across all accounts.
We can now, legally, track Facebook statuses and fan pages. This is a good resource for top brands as many customers use Facebook to communicate about a brand (positive and negative). Having mentioned this, it must be noted that BrandsEye have taken privacy into very serious consideration. Therefore BrandsEye can only track mentions which are visible to the public. So if your settings are restrictive and only your friends can view your information, BrandsEye will not pick up these mentions.
This certainly opens up a new arena for ORM and given how personal Facebook tends to be it’s going to take some time to work out exactly what is (and isn’t) an acceptable engagement in this space.
In addition, the search algorithm has also been further improved to increases the search depth and provides more insight into the online conversation.
As a whole the changes to BrandsEye will help increase the information received on your brand and empower better online reputation management.
