[TECH UPDATE] 09/11

by Roger Norton on 2011/09/14

Recently, our focus has been on getting you results quicker. Now there are plenty of limitations on how fast this can be done, even on a twitter search there is often a 15-minute delay or more - and that's on their own platform!

But we strive to be as fast as possible and  although we're not quite there yet, we've made a couple of tweaks to get closer to real-time searches. While you're logged into BrandsEye will give your account a search priority and you should see tweets and other mentions coming in within about 10 minutes of them being published. On some of the really busy accounts though, this may drop to about half an hour at times.

Another update is that we can confirm that for the last week we've been able to bring in Google+ mentions. Unfortunately, because of privacy settings (simlar to Facebook) the preview doesn't show in the previw pane but you can easily click on the link and open it in a new tab. If you'd like to isolate the Google+ mentions, apply a filter where:  Link  |  contains  |  "plus.google"  and you should be able to see all the mentions from Google+.

We've also updated the way we look for mentions and are using an extra super fast service to find and store mentions. This was rolled out to Twitter about 3 weeks ago, but we can now confirm that it is working and has been tested with all types of mentions. So if you see a 5% - 15% rise in mentions in your account it's just because we're searching better. Part of it may also be down to the massive uptake of Social Media too though. :)

Many of our customers are wanting a little more out of their RSS feeds. We've now made a feature where you can activate anAdvanced RSS feed that will give you all sorts of extra data like Sentiment or Credibilty for each mention as part of your feed. This will only be available to Enterprise accounts or on special request. If you'd like it activated, please send us an email and we'll flick the switch...

Finally, we've now moving our 'Help' section and customer support onto GetSatisfaction so if you have questions please go HERE and log your question, or access it through the 'Help' tab from inside your account. The entire team get a copy of your request so you'll likely get a faster response than a direct email. More importantly, feedback to this platform will serve all existing and future users which is a collective win for us all.

As always, we'd love to hear from you if you have any questions or queries. Changes on the web (particularly with Social Media) happen all the time and it's pretty hard to build tests for them all. If you ever notice anything funny we'd love to hear from you - most of our new features are at the requests of clients. What would you like to see us build?
